Objectives
To
prepare a well documented report for fiber dimensions and fine structure of
different non-wood raw materials used in Indian Paper Industry. This
information is useful in papermaking studies to understand the influence of
fiber length, width and coarseness etc.
Activities
Sabai
grass sample was collected from Behat, Saharanpur and Kans grass collected
from CPPRI premises and experiments on proximate chemical analysis, pulping
and bleaching optimization of Sabai grass & Kans were carried out. The
Kappa number of unbleached pulp obtained by 14% soda was 19 and the CEH
bleaching of sabai grass pulp reached to brightness level of 80% ISO.
