» Evaluation of Techno - Economic viability
to reduce the level of AOX to 1.0 Kg per tonne of product in large scale
Pulp & Paper mills.
 AOX
Analyser |
Objective
To
evaluate the options particularly alkali leaching (post digester), enzymatic
prebleaching to reduce the demand of chlorine in order to achieve AOX level
of about 1.0 kg/t of product. The studies also include the evaluation of
techno-economic viability of new technologies like extended oxygen
delignification, chlorine dioxide bleaching, enzymatic prebleaching, etc. to
achieve AOX around 1.0 kg/t of product.
Activities
Studies
conducted with the unbleached pulp samples from mills selected by sponsoring
agency revealed that the combination of post digester leaching (for pulps
having kappa no.>25) and enzymatic pretreatment of unbleached pulp
resulted in reduced chlorine requirement by 15-20%. However, this
combination of leaching and enzymatic prebleaching process is not sufficient
to reduce the level of AOX to around 1.0 kg/t of paper. The final report
covering the techno-economic viability of options to reduce AOX level to
about 1.0 kg/t of product has been submitted to sponsoring agency.
