The project activities are focused
on energy conservation and improvement of energy efficiency in Indian Pulp &
Paper industry. The results of the project activities can be translated in
terms of cost effective production, improvement of environment and resource
conservation.
The project activities were extended to process
integration & optimization studies in Pulp & Paper mills. During
this period energy audit follow up studies were carried out in some mills
for which potential energy saving areas and technologies like pinch
technologies were identified and recommended.

For increased energy co-generation, black
liquor thermal treatment is one of the Technology, which has been developed
and perfected by CPPRI for non-wood black liquors, particularly for bagasse
black liquors. The technology has been patented and is available for
industry.
